Mindfulness for AVIDS! ...For those want to go to the next level.
Basic gist:
To get a good foundation of mindfulness it takes about three months with a minimum of 15 minutes a day. I can help guide you to achieve this life-skill by meeting with you for 60-90 minutes a week.
"Mindfulness" is more than a T-shirt, slogan or top 10 list to get people to work more efficiently.
Like any buzzword it has been pumped into too many contexts without real leadership reducing its potential. It is more than sitting quietly for 30 seconds. We know this, however the tide is now out now and it is harder to get people, especially kids to take it seriously. So why go against the tide? This class is for the avid - those who are ready to learn to swim.
Mindfulness is an acquired skill that takes time, discipline and commitment to learn.
Whether it's Star Wars, Socrates to Plato, Karate Kid, Dead Poet's Society, Phil Jackson (coach or Bull and Lakers), Mulan, Harry Potter, Junger's Tribe, Million Dollar Baby, Gruwell's Freedom Writers or Ghost Dog (among so many examples), there is not a single story, movie, or biography where mastery of the mind took a half a minute a day or a weekend retreat to develop. Mindfulness must be honed with reflection, intention, continuation and integration into one's life.
"Learn how to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else." ~ Leonardo da Vinci
Are you an “avid”? An avid is a person who is keen to develop their mindfulness into a real skill… a person who sees that some of the most successful athletes, entrepreneurs, artists and adventurers use meditation as a key tool to build their dreams and achieve their goals?
This class is for youth avid to learn how to meditate or take their mindfulness backgrounds to the next level. This class must be taken voluntarily. This is only for youth who see the value in meditation and want to deepen their practice.
